A good week with minor glitches

Last Monday our daughter arrived with her new fiancé. They visited until Thursday. On Wednesday evening all of us went to the CVRD in Duncan where my husband was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012. There were lots of people to witness the event.
It was the 13th and even though the 13th is usually a good day for us, this one was not too good until we got to the CVRD. Of course it got better then Smile
I had planned on a very nice lunch, which is our big meal of the day. All went well until I made the mistake of setting my iPod timer to 1.30 hours instead of only 30 minutes. Because we were talking and having fun I did not realize how fast the time went until I smelled something not kosher! The chicken turned into chicken jerky Sad smile. So I made potato pancakes instead of mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken jerky (!) some veggies and a big salad. All of us survived. Later on we had more company and I scrambled to makes something to eat before we all went to the CVRD. It turned out to be a collection of leftovers. We were late going, which is highly unusual for us, and we hit every traffic light on red. We made it just in time.
After we all got home we had a nice little meeting and it was not long before everybody was in bed.
The next morning the kids left pretty early to catch the ferry back to the mainland and then on to Kelowna but we had time for a nice visit before they went. All told it was a good week.

Time flies!

I can hardly believe how long it was since my last post. I have been busy but are hard-pressed to remember what I did.
One day I made a day of shopping which I have to talk myself into. Normally I am in and out of shops but I needed dress pants so I made a concerted effort. I ended up with 3 pair, 1 pair dress pants and 2 pairs of jeans and even a new blouse which I really like. Clothes shopping is like pulling teeth for me but leave me in Future shop or Canadian Tire and I am perfectly contend to stay for a long time.
We had a few really nice days, sunny and relatively warm but it looks like that is about to change. I sure hope it holds out for tomorrow since sil and I are going to shop at Costco. That is another store I don’t mind shopping at. I have a card for it but I only get there maybe 4 times a year. I would go more often but I sure don’t like the Malahat drive, it scares me. Since my husband retired ( about 25 years ago) we usually do our shopping together so I don’t drive and now I am a little scared. I do shop by myself but only around the area.
Not much of a Blog, but I am too tired and it’s hard to think then.
Good night everybody

Spring is keeping it’s distance

It will be awhile yet before it arrives.
I have decided to revive this Blog, at least I will post once in awhile.
My life goes at very even pace, so there is not really much to write about. So far we had a nice winter with very little snow. 3 times it snowed pretty hard but each time the snow disappeared very quickly. Christmas Day was the worst dump and there were lots of accidents on the Malahat Drive but again next day the roads were clear. Since then we had lots of cold nights but nice days with a few sunny days. I was glad that we had Christmas Dinner at our house this year, that way we did not have to brave the roads.
The trouble with the ECO Depot has come to a good end for us so my cookie baking days are in the past. Good thing too because I kept eating the left-over cookies and gained 10 pounds. I am happy to say that by now I lost just about all of them. That’s great, otherwise a new wardrobe would have been in my future.
Just before Christmas I bought a new iPad. YEESSS!! I wanted one for a long time since hubby and I shared one and lots of times I had to give it up when he went to meetings. No more sharing! Again YEESSS!!
I hope everybody has a good night.
