Raining

It rained a lot today but not very hard. I only went to the end of the road to get the mail and our 2 local papers. One of the paper boxes was partly pushed over and the rain was able to go right inside which got all the papers wet. I wonder why people will have to ruin stuff ????
Talk about ruining stuff...
The first time we landed in Ujung Pandang (formerly the town of Makassar) on Sulawesi (formerly Celebes) we noticed a plane sitting a bit apart on the tarmac. It looked like it was broken in half. Later on we found out that it had a hard landing an that was the result. Glad I was not on that flight.
Since we had 2 holidays a year we flew out of Indonesia quite often. On a lot of those flights just before landing everybody was told to go to the front of the plane for landing or to the back, I forget which it was but I always found that frightening. On the whole I have never been afraid of flying.
The first leg of any trip was always with the INCO Otter, a small plane. I loved it because most of the time we flew quite low and we could watch the landscape below. Somehow I was always lucky to fly in good weather.
I am not so sure that I want to fly now though. Too much of a hassle.

Good night everybody :-)

  2. I don't fly anymore unless absolutely necessary, because of the airport hassles. I always did love the small commuter prop planes - like you say they fly low and you can see everything on the ground, plus I always had the hope that it would be possible to survive an accidental landing.
